“Almost” means “nearly, but not completely,” and “mostly” means “for the most part” or “mainly.”

1. almost +

- ○ Almost all the students passed the test.(ほぼすべての学生がテストに合格した)
- × Almost students passed the test.
「あやうく〜しそうになった」は almost(または nearly)+ 過去形です。
- ○ I almost fell down the stairs.(あやうく階段から落ちるところだった)
- × I mostly fell down the stairs.
3. almost
- ○ It’s almost ten o’clock.(もうすぐ10時だ)
- ○ I’ve almost finished my homework.(宿題はほぼ終わった)
- × Almost I forgot your birthday. → ○ I almost forgot your birthday.
