Last summer, I worked at a small bookstore in town. It was a quiet job, and I enjoyed reading during slow hours. One day, my manager asked me to help organize a big event. At first, I wasn’t sure I could handle it. I had never led a project before. “If you’re ready, then let’s start,” she said with a smile. I took a deep breath and said yes.
From that moment, everything changed. I was in charge of planning, contacting authors, and arranging the space. I worked day and night. My team supported me, and we got everything done on time. Just then, I received an email from a famous author confirming their attendance. I was so excited!
Back then, I didn’t believe I could lead anything. But this experience gave me confidence. On the day of the event, many people came, and everything went smoothly. I stood by the door, greeting guests. Even then, I felt nervous. But when the author said, “You did a great job,” I knew I had grown.
Afterwards, my manager said, “You should apply for the team leader position.” I didn’t think twice. I made the decision then and there. Since then, I’ve taken on many more projects. Looking back, I’m thankful for that one chance.
