Title: A Big Decision
Mika was a high school student in Japan. One day, her teacher asked, “Have you decided what to do after graduation?” Mika hesitated. She had been thinking about going to university abroad, but she was also considering staying in Japan.
That night, she made a list of the pros and cons. The pros of studying abroad were learning English better and meeting new people. The cons were being far from home and the cost. After thinking carefully, she decided to go abroad.
The next day, she told her parents. They were surprised but supported her. “It’s your life,” her mother said. “You must make your own decisions.” Mika smiled. She felt nervous, but she had determined her future. She would not let fear stop her.
Later, her friend Yuki asked, “How did you choose?” Mika said, “I thought about what I really wanted, and then I resolved to follow my dream.”
Yuki said, “I’m still not sure. I might just stay here.” Mika replied, “That’s okay. Everyone has to decide for themselves. Just don’t ignore your heart.”
From that day, Mika worked hard to prepare. She knew that this final decision would change her life—but she had no regrets.
