Tom is a junior office worker who usually wakes up early. One Monday morning, his alarm didn’t ring, and he almost overslept. When he opened his eyes, it was already 8:15 a.m., and his work started at 9:00. He jumped out of bed, got dressed quickly, and skipped breakfast.
He ran to the station and caught the train just in time. “I’m nearly late,” he said, out of breath. The train was practically empty, so he sat down and checked his emails. One email from his boss said, “Don’t forget the team meeting at 9:30.” Tom had almost forgotten about it.
When he arrived at the office at 8:55, he was close to being late, but not quite. He smiled and said to himself, “That was almost a disaster.”
During the meeting, Tom gave a short report. His boss said, “That was exactly what we needed. Thank you.” Tom felt proud. It was a stressful morning, but everything turned out fine.
He promised himself he would check his alarm every night. Being almost late is still risky, but he learned an important lesson.
