Mika works at a small bakery in her town. One rainy morning, she was feeling a little down. Not many customers came, and the weather made everything feel gray. She was wiping the counter when an old man entered the shop. He had a big smile on his face and said, “Good morning!”
Mika was surprised. She smiled back, and suddenly, she felt a little warmer inside.
The man ordered a cup of coffee and a croissant. While waiting, he told Mika that he always starts his day with a smile. “Even on rainy days,” he said, “a smile can make a big difference.”
They talked for a few minutes. Mika laughed when the man shared a joke. As he left, he gave her a warm smile and said, “Keep smiling.”
Later, more customers came in. Mika smiled at each one. One of them, a mother with a baby, said, “Thank you for your smile. It made my day better.”
By the end of the day, Mika realized that a simple smile had changed everything. She had smiled with joy, laughed with her customers, and felt hopeful. She remembered the man’s words and decided to always start her day with a smile.
