Tom works at a bookstore. One day, his manager asked him to prepare a shelf for new books. Tom was sure he had done it before, so he said, “I’m sure I can handle it.” He started working and made sure all the books were in order. After checking twice, he was certain everything looked perfect.
Later, his coworker Lisa came by and said, “Are you sure you put the right labels on?” Tom replied, “Yes, I double-checked. I’m confident this is correct.” But after a moment, he noticed one label was wrong. “Oh no, I was so positive it was right,” he said, feeling a bit embarrassed.
Lisa smiled and said, “It’s okay. You just need to make sure next time.” They fixed it together. As they worked, Tom thought about how being slow and sure is better than rushing. At the end of the day, the manager saw the shelf and said, “Nice job. It looks great.”
Tom learned that it’s okay to be unsure sometimes, as long as you try your best and ask for help. He walked home feeling safe and sure that he had done a good job after all.
