When I was younger, I would often dream about becoming a chef. I loved cooking and tried new recipes every weekend. My father would always taste my food and give me honest feedback. He would say, “You could be a great chef one day!”
In high school, I got a part-time job at a small restaurant. I used to wash dishes and help the cook when he was busy. The cook would teach me simple techniques and told me that practice would make me better. I might have taken a different path, but my parents wanted me to become an engineer. They said it would be better for my future.
Although I agreed, I still missed cooking. One day, my best friend said, “Would you mind making dinner for my birthday?” I said yes, and I cooked for twenty guests. Everyone loved it! Someone asked, “Why didn’t you become a chef?” I smiled and said, “I would have, but life had other plans.”
Now, I work as an engineer, but I still cook every weekend. I would rather cook than go out. Cooking brings me peace, and I believe I could still be a great chef if I ever change my mind.
