Naoko loved playing video games. She often played late at night, even on school days. Her mother said, “You should stop playing so much.” But Naoko didn’t listen.
One day, she missed the bus stop because she was playing on her phone. She had to walk a long way back home. Her mother said, “Maybe it’s time to stop and think about your habits.”
Naoko didn’t want to admit it, but she was tired every day. Her grades were dropping. Her teacher told her, “You can do better if you just stop wasting time.”
That night, she looked in the mirror. “I need to stop,” she said to herself. So, she made a rule: no games after 9 p.m.
It was hard at first. She had to stop herself from playing, but slowly, things got better. She got more sleep, her grades improved, and she had more time with her friends.
One day, she stopped by her friend’s house. They studied together and then played games—just a little. “You changed,” her friend said. Naoko smiled. “Sometimes, you just need a reason to stop.”
