Takeshi had always had a fear of heights. Even standing on a chair made him nervous. One day, his school announced a trip to the mountains. “There will be hiking and a tall tower to climb,” said the teacher.
Takeshi wanted to go, but he also felt fear. He didn’t want to live in fear forever, so he decided to try. His mother said, “It’s time to face your fears, Takeshi.”
During the trip, his friends climbed the tower quickly. Takeshi stood at the bottom, frozen. He felt anxiety in his chest. His friend Satoshi said, “Come on, I’ll go with you.” With his help, Takeshi started to climb.
Step by step, he got higher. At the top, he looked around. The view was amazing. “I did it!” he said. For the first time, he had faced his fear.
When he got home, he told his parents about it. His father said, “That’s real courage.” Takeshi smiled. From that day, he wasn’t afraid to try new things. He learned that hope and fear live side by side, but we can choose which one to follow.
